Burble is the publishing title and imprint of Sussex writer Robert Edwards. The books – poetry and autobiography – record multiple wanderings, observations and reflections, focused predominantly, but not exclusively, on locations, events and encounters in the author’s home area of Sussex and Brighton.
Most of the books – attractive, entertaining and unusual – contain illustrations.
The poetry, in classical and modern form, and in lucid language, can be calm or flamboyant, solemn or comical, critical or questioning. Quirky surface descriptions often hint at moods and themes more profound or poignant.
While sharing a common style of design in presentation and production, each book is devoted to a specific subject or theme relating to, respectively, Sussex, Brighton, the London Thames, nature, and the day-to-day realities and wonders of peripatetic bookselling.
